New York, NY - The Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, notes with great sorrow the falling asleep in the Lord of the Patriarch of Serbia, His Beatitude the late Pavle, Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovci on November 15th. In a letter to the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, that was echoed to Metropolitan Christopher and to all the Bishops of the Serbian Church in America and Canada, Archbishop Demetrios of America wrote:

At its meeting in Ravenna on October 13, 2007, the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church approved a document. This text is the first statement adopted by the Joint International Commission since a statement on "Uniatism, Method of Union of the Past, and the Present Search for Full Communion" was approved at Balamand, Lebanon, on June 23, 1993.

The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation has finalized a joint response to the international dialogue's 2007 "Ravenna Document." This took place at the Consultation's 77th meeting, held at Saint Paul's College in Washington, DC, from October 22 to 24, 2009. It was presided over by Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh and Roman Catholic Archbishop Gregory Aymond of New Orleans.
