Applications for scholarships administered by the Chancellor's Office of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that are open to students from SCOBA member churches are now available for the 2010-2011 academic year.

The Sunday before Great Lent, February 14th, 2010, is Mission Sunday as designated by the hierarchs of the Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA). Over the past two millennia, the work of making disciples has been a focal ministry of saints, and billions of people have accepted life in Christ.

In 1955, the hierarchs leading the various Orthodox Christian Churches in our land came together to recognize and endorse the work of the Boy Scouts of America.

The assistance, delivered today to King's Hospital in Port-au-Prince, is worth more than $1.2 million and was provided by IOCC's long standing partner, Medical Teams International (MTI).

Over the weekend an airlift of water purification and sanitation equipment for 10,000 people and 500 family tents are expected to arrive in Port-au-Prince.

IOCC has mobilized its disaster response team and is coordinating with other Orthodox and ecumenical partners to monitor and respond to the emerging needs in Haiti.

New York, NY - The Standing Conference of the Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, notes with great sorrow the falling asleep in the Lord of the Patriarch of Serbia, His Beatitude the late Pavle, Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovci on November 15th. In a letter to the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, that was echoed to Metropolitan Christopher and to all the Bishops of the Serbian Church in America and Canada, Archbishop Demetrios of America wrote:

At its meeting in Ravenna on October 13, 2007, the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church approved a document. This text is the first statement adopted by the Joint International Commission since a statement on "Uniatism, Method of Union of the Past, and the Present Search for Full Communion" was approved at Balamand, Lebanon, on June 23, 1993.

The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation has finalized a joint response to the international dialogue's 2007 "Ravenna Document." This took place at the Consultation's 77th meeting, held at Saint Paul's College in Washington, DC, from October 22 to 24, 2009. It was presided over by Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh and Roman Catholic Archbishop Gregory Aymond of New Orleans.

(IOCC) is coordinating the delivery of hygiene kits that will assist over 3,000 survivors of Typhoons Ketsana and Parma, which struck the Philippines in late September.
